The Concept of Blessing

A blessing is a prayer asking for divine protection, or a little gift from the heavens. It's also any act of approving, like when your roommate wants to move out and you give her your blessings. Blessings have to do with approval. The first meaning is asking for divine protection or favor.

A blessing is something good that you are grateful for. If something is done with someone's blessing, it is done with their approval and support. In April Thai and Indonesian leaders gave their formal blessing to the idea. 

Types of blessings:

There are seven supernatural blessings that God wants to release to those who honor him: 

  • DOUBLE PORTION  (Joel 2:23)
  • FINANCIAL ABUNDANCE (Joel 2:24)
  • RESTORATION (Joel 2:25)
  • MIRACLES (Joel 2:26)
  • GOD'S DIVINE PRESENCE (Joel 2:27)
  • BLESSING'S UPON YOUR FAMILY (Joel 2:28)
  • DELIVERANCE  (Joel 2:32)

Purpose of Blessing:

First, a blessing was a pub;ic declaration of a favored status with God. Second, the blessing endowed power for prosperity and success. in all cases, the blessing served as a guide and motivation to pursue a course of life within the blessing.

"Blessing" is the most powerful word in the Bible. In the Book of Genesis (Chapter 1:22), the very first thing God does after creating humankind, is to bless them. God blesses Adam and Eve, and says"be fruitful and multiply." God blessed them, and thus began the long story of blessing alll the rest of us.
